In order to give the outer semi-circle an even more vigorous workout you may use the back end of a thin, hard-covered book instead of the forefinger. I have also constructed what I call a "throat board" for this purpose. (See Fig. ) The throat board is made of a 12 inch length of pine, six inches wide and one-half inch thick. I shaped one end to conform to the contour of the neck.
